BECOME A PRECINCT OFFICER!

A precinct organizer is one of the most important persons in the Democratic Party.

Precinct Organizers are the backbone of grassroots democracy—connecting with neighbors, getting out the vote, and keeping our communities informed and engaged. If you’re ready to take action, this is one of the most powerful ways to make a difference!

Congressman Joe Neguse: It Starts in Your Neighborhood

Hear why precinct organizing is the foundation of building power and winning on the ground

What is a Precinct Organizer?

Precinct Organizers are the Democratic Party’s boots on the ground in your neighborhood. POs are the people who make democracy work at the local level—connecting with neighbors, sharing information, and helping turn out the vote. POs can donate a little time or a lot. We will take whatever time you have.

Who can be a PO?

You don’t need experience—just a commitment to your community. To serve as a Precinct Organizer, you must:

  • Be a registered Democrat

  • Live in the precinct you represent

  • Be elected at caucus or appointed between elections

What do Precinct Organizers do?

Precinct Organizers are at the heart of everything we do and we will provide all of the tools and training to make you a success.

You’ll:

  • Be the local connection between the Democratic Party and your neighbors

  • Share information about candidates, issues, and upcoming elections

  • Help register voters and boost turnout (GOTV!)

  • Work alongside other volunteers to strengthen your community

  • Serve as a voting member of the Central and Vacancy Committees

Ways You Can Get Involved as a Precinct Organizer

We’ll take whatever time you have to give—there’s a role for everyone. Here are just a few ways you can connect with neighbors and make an impact:

  • Distribute door hangers in your neighborhood

  • Practice relational organizing—start by making sure everyone in your network is registered and ready to vote

  • Use simple data tools like VAN and MiniVAN to support outreach

  • Create your own plan using our PO Commitment Sheet

  • Write a Letter to the Editor to amplify local voices

  • Host small gatherings, make calls or send texts, or connect one-on-one

If you’ve been feeling frustrated, concerned, or ready to do something—this is it. Precinct Organizers are how we win elections and build lasting change. And we need you. Email chair@eagledems.org to learn more!
