Letter: Helping our neighbors, together

Updated: 2 days ago

On behalf of the Eagle County Democrats, we are proud to share the success of our recent food and hygiene products drive, which collected over 250 pounds of essential items for two incredible organizations serving Eagle County families: The Community Market, a program of the Eagle Valley Community Foundation which enables over 3,400 individuals each week to access healthy food, and Bright Future Foundation, the Vail Valley’s only shelter for families and individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

At a time when many in our community are feeling the strain as grocery prices increase and “mud season” affects some employment, this support matters more than ever. The lines at our Community Market locations are growing as community members struggle to make ends meet … the need is real.

We want to sincerely thank every individual who donated, and the following businesses and organizations that generously allowed us to place collection bins in their spaces: Bob’s Place in Avon, City Market in Avon, Color Coffee Roasters in Eagle, the Bookworm of Edwards, Vail Public Library, and Yeti’s Grind in Vail, West Vail, Edwards and Eagle.

Your kindness makes a difference.

Most importantly, we want to emphasize that helping people transcends politics. Lending a hand to our neighbors in need is not about party or ideology, it’s about community. When we come together to lift each other, we strengthen the very fabric of Eagle County.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this drive a success. Let’s keep showing up for one another.

Margo Andrews, Vail Andrea Burrows, Edwards
